Snowing in Bansko – over 1,5 m!!

Since 06.01 Bansko is covered with lots of snow which secures perfect conditions for ski lovers and snowboarders. Temperatures are with minus in front but it is not cold and the snow cover reaches over 1.5 m.

The fallen snow till now has gone up to 20 – 25 sm over the yet fallen snow and on higher parts and in the region below peak Todorka, to the Plateau and to Bynderishka poliana, the snow cover is over 1 m.

It is not so cold but temperatures start with “-“. All ski tracks and ski routes are traced, marked and ready for ski and snowboard lovers. All equipment is working and the personnel of hotels and other places for accommodation, and places to entertain are welcoming warmly new guests of top resort in Bulgaria – Bansko.

The only skating rink in the winter resort is already functioning ready for the guests of town to enjoy ice skating     at the open area. The mountain – beautiful but dangerous –watch out!!!

Bansko is even more attractive and beautiful place after the new snow cover from the New Year Eve. The resort was a favorite place of over 15 thousand people in wait for the New Year to come. The foreigner guests were from England, Russia, Romania, Greece, etc. All types of accommodation were full – from the luxurious 5-star hotels to the family hotel houses.

High demand of real estate property purchase in Bansko and the region

The price of the real estate property purchase in Bansko and the region in the entire 2011 has increased with 10%, said brokers. The higher interest is due to the low price levels of 400-500 EUR per sq m and the perspective of tourism investment in the region.

The market is still dynamic but you can buy a one-bedroom apartment in Bansko at the total price of 20 000 – 25 000 EUR. The main buyers come from Russia and other foreigners who hold the major share followed by Bulgarians.

South Africa in promotion of Bansko

Prof. Sheila Cameron, exclusive and plenipotentiary ambassador of South Africa had a meeting with the mayor of Bansko Georgi Ikonomov with the purpose to present the winter resort of Bansko as top ski destination to South Africans.

The diplomat characterized Bansko as extremely attractive tourist destination to the people of South Africa and shared her idea to enforce the popularization of the resort so that they could visit the winter resort, to enjoy the perfect conditions which the ski zone offers and to get a grasp of the unique culture, life and atmosphere of the resort town.

Hundreds of Foreigners in Bansko during holidays

Bansko is top resort in Bulgaria which attracts hundreds of foreign tourists each winter season with its perfectly traced ski tracks of 75 km and this year’s World cup Alpine skiing tournament.

Tourist from countries like Great Britain, Russia, Greece and Israel chose to enjoy the Christmas and New Year Eve holidays in Bansko. The winter resort pleased the ski lovers with new ski cover which at places reached 1 m. This allowed the functioning of all ski tracks which doubled the pleasure of ski lovers and snowboarders.

Because of all the snow the risk of avalanches is increased but there is nothing to worry about, said resort management. Two new fitments for a distance management of accumulated snow falling in the area Palashica are in function so that the security of tourists is 100%.

Skiing and snowboarding outside the ski tracks is absolutely forbidden as the new snow enforces the risk of avalanches. The advice of mountain rescuers is tourists to go out in the mountain but with proper ski equipment, to follow the ski zone marking, to have full batteries of their mobile phones and of course to obtain mountain insurance.

The prince of Monaco in Bansko

His highness the Prince of Monaco Albert II will be on official visit in Bansko on 27 and 28 January. The reason for this visit is the charity initiation of STAR TEAM FOR THE CHILDREN MC and the Bulgarian ski federation.

Police force in Bansko during the winter season

For the ski season in Bansko there will be more policemen. This is a precaution to secure the safety and the pleasant mood of tourists. The numerous pick pocketers are one of the reasons for the police to give advice to people not to leave their bags, coats, purses, etc unprotected.   It is best for tourists to leave their personal belongings to the safes of the hotels during check in.

The consuls of Greece and Great Britain in Bansko

The counsels of Great Britain and Greece met the mayor of top resort of Bansko. The main theme of this official meeting was the present winter ski season in Bansko and the security of tourists. Last year’s experience showed that the Greek policemen in Bansko were seen as respective trustful members of order. The local police are prepared with report sheets for all kind of crimes listed in different languages.

There was a thrilling and exciting opening of the ski season in top winter resort in Bulgaria – Bansko.

The day began with a game called “Beat the champions” which was an organized race between world famous ski winners as Michael Valhoffer, Mark Jirardeli, Petyr Popangelov and all ski lovers at the best ski run in Bansko – “Alberto Tomba”. The race has the criteria of shortest ski jump and maximum speed. The best ski lovers received amazing presents from the organizers.
